How to Remove Water from Stomach Naturally

Fluid retention in the body, mainly the stomach, is quite an awful feeling. It can make the person feel fat, uncomfortable and uneasy. The stomach feels swollen and can lead to a loss of appetite. Other symptoms that may indicate water retention are:

    Water retention:
    • Your weight has increased significantly in the past 24 hours.
    • Your clothes no longer fit you comfortably.
    • Rings on your fingers have become tight
.Excess water retention in the stomach can be due to:
    • High sodium in the diet
    • Not drinking enough water
    • Weight gain
    • Lung disease
    • Heart disease
    • Kidney and liver dysfunction
    • Starting a new medication
    • Lack of exercise
    • Protein deficiency
    • Anemia

    • Although some of these problems can be easily rectified with a few changes in diet, lifestyle and natural remedies, a severe case of water retention can point to a more serious threat to the health, in which case a medical practitioner’s attention will be needed.
    • Let us take a look at the Natural Remedies to Treat Abdominal Water Retention
    • Lower Sodium Intake: According to the Institute of Medicine, the adequate sodium intake level should be about 1,500 for most Americans. The Upper Tolerable Limit is 2300 mg.
    • Therefore, avoid all types of processed and junk foods as they are known to contain high amounts of sodium as well as lots of calories and unhealthy fats, providing little or no nutrition.
    • Even though sodium is necessary for the proper functioning of the body an excess intake of sodium can lead to a number of health problems, hence it is important to keep a check on the amount of sodium you take.
    Drink Plenty of Water:
    • Contrary to what one may think, drinking lots of water will help in ridding the body of the excess water retention.Drinking plenty of water helps in flushing out sodium from the system, and keeps you well hydrated.
    • Both these factors play a major role in preventing your body from retaining fluid.
    • A minimum of 8 glasses of water should be consumed throughout the day. If plain water does not interest you or motivate you to drink enough, try adding a slice of lime to your glass, it will add a distinct flavor and help in digestion as well.
    Parsley Tea:

Microwave 1 cup water on high heat for 3 minutes and add 2 teaspoons of parsley leaves to the hot water. Let it seep for 2-3 minutes, discard the leaves, and drink the parsley tea. It acts as a diuretic and relieves water retention. Drink this composition twice daily for maximum benefit.

    Dandelion Tea:
    • Like the parsley tea, dandelion tea also helps as a diuretic. Heat 1 cup of water in the microwave for 3 minutes, add a dandelion tea bag or one teaspoon of dried dandelion root or leaves.
    • Let it steep for 10 minutes, discard the leaves and have this tea daily, once in the morning and again at night.
    • Eat Foods Rich in Water Content: Foods rich in water content act as natural diuretics and help the body to flush out excess fluids.
    • Some examples of foods with high water content are watermelon, tomatoes, grapes, cabbage, carrots, asparagus, cucumber, celery and many others. Fruits are also a rich source of potassium, which helps balance out the sodium in the body.
    • Increase Intake of Calcium and Magnesium: According to the Mayo Clinic, taking 200-400 mg of magnesium and 1,000-1,200 mg of calcium can greatly reduce the water weight of a body.
    • However, women who may be suffering from kidney or heart disease should be cautious when taking these minerals and always under the guidance of a doctor.
    Follow an Exercise Regime:
    • Exercising not only increases stamina and improves general health but when a person perspires during rigorous exercise activities, the sweat helps flush out the excess fluid along with other toxins.
    • It helps increase blood circulation as well. Some of the forms of exercise that can be taken up include jogging, cycling, aerobics, power walking, etc.
    • Watch Out for Other Triggers and Follow Precautions: Carbonated beverages, artificial sweeteners, fatty foods and anxiety or stress may trigger bloating or water retention in the body.
    • In addition, unhealthy habits of smoking and drinking alcohol should be avoided. Thus, it is suggested to maintain a stress-free and healthy lifestyle with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
    • As with any other condition, if the symptoms do not improve with changes in lifestyle or if they persist or become worse one must seek immediate medical attention.
